Fashion & footwearSize, colour, and the deal that goes with them
For fashion, footwear and apparel retailers · September 2026
One shirt is twelve products: three colours, four sizes, each with its own barcode and its own pile on the shelf. The promotion is buy two get one free, the customer wants to exchange the medium for a large, and the queue is watching.
One product, its options on one screen, the deal applied as the basket fills, and an exchange that puts the medium back where it came from.

What a fashion counter needs
Variants the counter treats as one thing
A product carries its options — size, colour, fit — and the counter shows them on one card. Scanning a variant barcode adds that variant directly; tapping the card opens a picker showing which sizes are actually on hand at this shop.
- Options on one product card
- Scan a variant barcode to add it directly
- On-hand per variant, per shop
- Images on the grid, or a dense list for speed
- Search by name, code or barcode
- Best-selling and recently-sold ordering
Deals that apply themselves
Buy two get one free, three for a fixed price, a percentage off a category, a bundle price for a set — each runs automatically or behind a coupon code, limited by customer group, dates, days of the week and a time window. The cart shows what each deal took.
- Buy X get Y, mix and match within a set
- N for a fixed price, or a bundle price
- Percentage or amount off a category
- Coupon codes with a reason when they do not apply
- Limits: minimum basket, maximum discount, usage
- Revenue stays gross; the discount has its own line
Exchanges without an argument
A return picks the lines and quantities coming back, records a reason and refunds as cash, credit to the account or store credit on a card in the customer name. The items go back into stock at this shop, and the credit note references the original invoice.
- Return per line, with quantities
- Reason recorded on the credit note
- Refund as cash, account credit or store credit
- Store credit spendable like a gift card
- Restocks at the shop that took the return
- Works offline against this counter's copy of the sale
Members, staff and trade, priced differently
Customer groups carry their own price lists, with quantity breaks where you want them. Pick the customer at the counter and their pricing and their deals apply; leave it as a walk-in and the shelf price stands.
- Customer groups: members, staff, trade
- Price lists with quantity breaks
- A list per group and per counter
- Resolution: customer group, then counter, then shelf
- Promotions limited to a group
- List price shown under the line when it applies
Gift cards that behave like liabilities
A gift card sold at the counter is money you owe, not money you earned: it posts to the gift-card liability and becomes revenue only when it is spent. The code prints on the receipt, the balance is checked live on redemption.
- Sold from the cart with a value and optional expiry
- Posts to a liability, not to revenue
- Code and balance printed on the slip
- Redeemed as a tender, checked live
- Reloaded or voided from the back office
- Points earned on the goods total as well

A Saturday on the shop floor
- 10:00Open the counter with a float; the promotion for the weekend is already live.
- 11:20Two shirts and a third free: the deal applies as the third goes in, and the cart says which deal took what.
- 13:05A member is picked on the sale; their price list drops three items to the member price.
- 15:40An exchange: a medium comes back, a large goes out, the difference settles on store credit.
- 17:15A gift card is sold for 500.00 and prints its code on the slip.
- 20:30Close the counter. Every deal given is a line in the ledger, not a mystery in the margin.
